Dominator of Expression
D.O.E (Dominator of Expression) is a Columbus native striving to build a tradition not resting upon one. D.O.E is committed not to fulfill the stereotypical role that rappers in the present day carry. He does this by choosing not to produce music with negative lyrics or obscene language. D.O.E prefers to not spend his time and energy in the local clubs, but instead in local schools. D.O.E’s recent focus consist of mentoring 8,000+ school children in the Central Ohio area, through his own mentoring program called Potential. With the use of catchy beats and captivating rhymes he proves rap can be viewed in a positive way to influence young children’s lives.
“I refuse to be a part of the problem and give into the stereotypes that plague rappers today. Instead I choose to be a part of the solution by producing clean rap and challenging my peers to follow suit.”
D.O.E has been rapping since the age of 8, putting on performances and also traveling to many cities where he was taught several aspects of the music industry. Quality was instilled in him at a very young age, and he is known for his production, original lyrics and crystal clear sound. He uploaded a mixtape “New Day New Money” and took the internet by storm receiving 10,000+ downloads.
D.O.E disconnects himself from other rappers by rapping directly about what he believes in and who he is. He stands tall on being original and setting his own trends. Through his music he is known to address serious issues that are present today. His song “real life” addresses the everyday struggles of Americans including rising gas prices, economic failures, envy, and jealousy.
“I look at music as my heartbeat, it keeps me alive. It defines who I am and allows me to creatively express myself and give glimpse for others into my life,” says D.OE “I like to test boundaries with my music while remaining positive and living as an example of what I rap about.”
Pursing a degree in Graphic Arts at Devry University, D.O.E’s focus is to expand his talents and make strides to make his name a brand. His talents have no limits and he chooses to push himself to reach his full potential. His goal is to take what he loves and use it to influence youth to promote positive actions. He has demonstrated this through his own lifestyle, music and the Potential in School Motivational and Mentoring Program.
